The Importance of Vitamin C for Your Guinea Pig

The distinction between the animals is particularly significant when housing rabbits and guinea pigs together. Rabbit food is not supplemented with Vitamin C unlike the rations prepared for guinea pigs. A further complication arises because Vitamin C is a relatively unstable compound. It is, therefore preferable to buy small quantities of food regularly. This will ensure that the guinea pig receives a relatively fresh diet containing the optimum level of Vitamin C - about 200 mg per kg of food (approximately 90 mg per lb). Check the expiration date recommended by the manufacturer if you buy the food in packaged form. The maximum shelf life is likely to be no more than two or three months. Keeping the food in a cool, well-ventilated spot will help to prolong the vitamin content in prepared diets.

Apart from causing skin lesions, an early but unseen effect of Vitamin C deficiency is that it appears to render the body more susceptible to infections. Studies suggest that the average guinea pig weighing up to 1 kg (2.2 lb) requires 10 mg of Vitamin C daily, while during pregnancy this figure can increase threefold. If the guinea pig appears unsteady on its feet and reluctant to walk, with haemorrhages evident in the mouth and elsewhere on the body, it may have a Vitamin C deficiency. Direct dietary supplement of the vitamin -usually as part of a multivitamin powder but, in severe cases, in tablet form - tends to be more satisfactory than giving it in drinking water, where it rapidly oxidizes and loses its potency. To be beneficial, a solution would need to contain at least 200 mg of Vitamin C per liter (114 mg per pint) of water and should be changed once, possibly twice, daily. An added complication results if the water has been drawn through new copper pipes and so contains relatively high levels of this metal since copper acts as a catalyst for the breakdown of Vitamin C.

Ensure that the condition never arises, therefore, by providing fresh green leaf food throughout the year. Broccoli is particularly valuable because it has a very high level of Vitamin C, averaging around 250 mg per kg (114 mg per lb). Also provide root vegetables, notably swedes and to a lesser extent, carrots. These should be sufficient to keep your guinea pig healthy, especially when being fed alongside a good-quality supplemented dry ration.

Pet Psychic Readings, Communicating With Your Deceased Pet

ByKevin L Nelson

Pet psychics have been advertising their services since the 1930's. Though gaining traction in mainstream, the valuable services offered by pet psychics are still a curiosity to most people.

A pet psychic or "animal communicator" can be seen in person or you may opt to contact a telephone pet psychic. Though the preparation requirements for each type of reading are slightly different, both methods will produce the same results.

Pet owners seek out the services of a pet psychic for a number of reasons. Sometimes it's purely for entertainment. Give it a try some time. You and your pet will both enjoy a reading for fun, and if there is ever a time when you have more serious questions, you'll both have a good idea of what to expect.

Sadly, many times the reason for a reading isn't so lighthearted. The family pet has died and the owner(s) wish to contact the spirit of their lost companion. This is the time when a psychic reading can be a great benefit to both yourself and your deceased pet.

There are questions that every pet owner would naturally be curious about. The grieving owner may want to know whether the pain is gone now, who is looking after their dog, or who the dog has met up with in heaven. Often, especially if the death was sudden, the pet owner just feels a need to say goodbye.

If an animal's death was traumatic or sudden, such as being hit by a car, or suffers a heart attack, just as with humans, the spirit of your pet may not realize that it is no longer tethered to this world. Despite best intentions, the emotions of the pet's grieving owners may cause its spirit to become confused. This can result in the spirit being fearful of "crossing over". A pet psychic can speak with your pet's spirit and help to guide it in its transition.

You Need To Be Prepared For A Telephone Pet Psychic Reading

The pet psychic that you visit in person with your pet won't require anything special of you. Many telephone pet psychics will ask that you provide a photo of your pet. Some telephone psychics will only require a general description such as breed, age, sex, size, and color.

Regardless of the type of psychic that you use, you must write down a number of very specific questions regarding your deceased pet. Most psychics will ask that you have 20 questions ready.

Here's A Tip

One of the questions that is rarely asked, but should be, is whether your pet has noticed any ailments of yours that you may not be aware of yet. As any pet owner can attest, animals tend to be very "tuned in" to their owners. They would love to help you to proactively prevent a health problem.

Lastly, remember, it's important that you be calm, comfortable and focused before you contact a pet psychic. You might find that a short self-hypnosis session will help.

Kevin L Nelson wasted money on a fake psychic. He has studied a great deal and made it a mission to educate others about the psychic industry (the good and bad). Please visit this site to help prepare yourself for your next reading. http://www.psychictelephonereadings1.com

How to Choose A Pet Sitter

ByKaili Williams

Do you feel like you can't travel or commit to plans because you have pets at home?

Hiring a pet sitter can help free up your schedule so that you have more freedom. With a house sitter, you can feel free to travel or maintain a flexible schedule while your furry kids will still receive their necessary care and attention.

You should be careful when choosing an animal caretaker, as this is someone you will need to trust to access your home while you aren't available. Your dog walker will need to be someone you are comfortable with providing care for your beloved animals.

When you find that you need a pet sitter, your initial idea may be to ask your family, friends or neighbors to care for your animals, but this is not always a good idea. While your family or neighbors may already know your pets, they do not necessarily have the time or experience to care for them properly.

The best option for you and your pet is to choose a professional pet sitter or dog walker. These professional care takers have tons of experience with various animals, and are generally well educated about care guidelines and behavior. Additionally, they have flexible schedules so they can easily bend to fit your pets needs. Ideally, your chosen sitter should work for a professional company that is licensed and insured, and your pet sitter should be able to provide you with references.

Your caretaker should be someone that is warm and caring, and that can understand your pets needs and behavior. They should be someone who is responsible, ideally with first-aid or pet cpr experience.

When you find someone, you should provide them with a house key so that they can access your pets while you are away. You should also provide them with contact information, alarm codes if needed, and emergency information. If your pet has medication or special needs, you should inform your pet sitter about these things in full.

Some pet sitting companies will allow you to have a free introductory visit with your local professional in order to ensure that they are a good match for your pet. This is an opportunity for you to interview the pet sitter, and decide if you are comfortable with working with this person. Professional companies usually provide background checks before hiring, and so you should not have to worry about your property being in danger. It is always helpful to ask for references, or ask your local caretaker how long they have been working and what they are most experienced with.

Vet Costs: The Top 5 Secrets To Dramatically Lower Them

Veterinary Care is expensive. I should know, for I am a Veterinarian who owned a Veterinary Hospital for nearly 15 years. Veterinary Medicine has changed dramatically in the last 30 years; gone are the days of James Herriot when vets treated every type of animal, and regularly made house calls. This article will give you an understanding of why veterinary charges have gone up so much, and the top 5 things you can do to lower your vet costs.

As veterinarians can offer more advance diagnostics and treatment, veterinary fees have risen accordingly. Vet visits and surgery cost dog owners almost $800 and cat owners $500 last year, according to the American Pet Products Manufacturers Association. If your pet becomes seriously ill, you can easily spend thousands. Knee surgery in dogs can easily cost over $5,000; a pet with cancer can have radiation therapy and chemotherapy costing in excess of $7,000.

Veterinarians are charging more to make their practices profitable, and obviously make more money. Veterinary clinics have escalating costs of staff salaries, higher expenses for the diagnostic equipment, yet also seeing decreases in new clients. For a clinic to financially profit, it means charging more per client, and having the clients come into the practice more often. This combination of higher salaries, expenses, but no real new clients means the only way for most practices to make more money is to charge more per client; hence higher vet costs.

My first suggestion is to price shop. Prices at animal hospitals can vary widely. In my small town of Nelson, I charged the least of all the practices, but many clients didn't know that. Make sure you get recommendations from other pet owners first. There is a misconception that the higher priced practices give a better quality of care - but this is often not true. Ask about the common procedures, like vaccines, checkups, neutering and spaying. In addition, do not forget to ask for discounts from your vet. If clients ask, they will often get a discount. Some vets offer multiple pet discounts as well as discounts for seniors.

Be wary of the business practice popularized by McDonald's, 'The Upsell'. Examples of this include your veterinarian suggesting 'preventive' diagnostic tests during a check up, or in many cases advising having a dental cleaning. You should be asking and questioning why? Just how bad are the teeth; is the degree of dental disease really that significant? One of the major veterinary associations is advising that any pet with Grade 1 gingivitis (mild gum inflammation) have a dental scale and polish. This procedure is at least 300 dollars. This has risks for your pet would need to be under general anesthetic. It has high profit margins as the Animal Health Technician or Assistant usually does all the work. However in my opinion, a pet with mild gum disease does not need this done. You can begin preventive care at home. You could begin to brush your pet's teeth. You could feed a diet designed to break off some of the plaque and tartar. This is only one example, although it is the biggest up-sell in Veterinary Medicine today.

Hospitalization fees are another often avoidable expense. Your Vet will make a lot more money if he (or she) can keep your pet in the veterinary hospital. They can charge a fee for the day of hospitalization, plus a fee for re-examining your pet in the morning. Ask to have the Procedure performed while you are there. Let's use X-Rays as an example. Get the practice to schedule this while you are there and waiting - it doesn't take long to perform X-Rays. They will likely comply if you only ask. By being a little bit of a 'pain in the butt', you will get better service at a lower price.

Medication is expensive, and it's marked up a lot at your vet. The markups range from 50% to 125% plus the prescription fee. There are many ways to save money on pet medications. First, ask your vet about a drug's cost and find out if it is available through pharmacies. Your local drug store may offer it at a much cheaper price. Also, ask your vet about lower-priced generic medications that would be appropriate. In addition to your local pharmacy, check veterinary-medication prices at DrsFosterSmith.com, 1800PetMeds.com, and PetCareRx.com. You have the right to ask your veterinarian for prescriptions that you can fill elsewhere, and save yourself unnecessary expenses.

The biggest key to lowering your veterinary fees is by being an involved and empowered pet owner. Take charge of your pet's health care. You know your pet better that anyone else. How well do you think a Veterinarian can get to know your pet with a 15 minute visit once a year? Educate yourself on basic at home veterinary care, and use many of the inexpensive natural remedies. Let's use allergies as an example, for many of you have allergic pets. You can either continue to use expensive prescription medication from your vet, or start with some natural remedies. These include therapeutic doses of essential fatty acids, being 1000mg per 10lbs of body weight daily. Or it can be using a herbal remedy called Licorice to stop the itching. This is only one small example, but do you see how you can take charge of your pet's health care and have a happier healthier pet?

You should now have an understanding of why veterinary costs are rapidly rising, but more important what you can do about it. You can price shop, avoid the common veterinary up-sells, avoid hospitalization fees, get less expensive prescription medication, and take charge of your pet's health care by using inexpensive at home remedies. I encourage you to at least use some of these suggestions to start saving money immediately on your vet costs.

Happier and Healthier With a Pet

ByPatricia A Dally

Man first started domesticating and keeping pets for assistance in hunting and security. While there are many who still raise dogs for those purposes, more are kept as pets for companionship. Whether you keep a dog, cat, bird or any other animal as a pet you get a number of health rewards in addition to their company. Studies have been conducted by universities, the CDC, and animal advocacy groups to indicate that with the right pet choice we can live longer and happier lives.

The bond between an owner and their pet can be intense and gives many psychological benefits. It's hard to be depressed when you have a cat snuggled up in your lap or a dog that can't stop wagging its tail just because you are there. Unconditional love is nothing to be sneezed at, unless allergies cause you to consider a different kind of pet. You do need to consider the time, attention and activity level you will be able to provide to any pet you get.

I have a friend that volunteers at the local humane society. She can't have a pet where she is living but still gets the benefits and fulfillment of caring for the animals there. People that are in nursing homes report feeling less lonely when visited by service dogs. Patients in mental health facilities have benefited from the incorporation of animals in their treatment programs since 1792!

Pets can help control your blood pressure through stress reduction better than some drugs. A study of stockbrokers suffering from hypertension showed that the group owning cats and dogs lowered their blood pressure more than the group that had no pets. Both groups were taking medication for high blood pressure - the only difference was the pets. So guess who went out and got pets as soon as possible.

Owning a dog can cause you to get out and exercise. Whether it is taking them for a walk or throwing them a coconut, you end up exercising more. My dog really does play fetch with coconuts, I think she may be in training to try out for a football team. Throwing that coconut gives my arm quite a workout.

Taking her for a walk with our other dog becomes a race for who will finish first. An added benefit is the socialize with the neighbors and other people we meet. This added socialization has great stress management benefits. Getting out and walking also improves your mood. The mental and emotional benefits are equal to the physical benefits of walking.

Pets offer unconditional love, companionship and don't seem to mind those long comfortable silences. You can tell your secrets to your pet without worrying that they will tell the very next person they see - unless you own a parrot that can't help themself! The care and grooming of a pet can be therapeutic. I get a sense of fulfillment and positive reinforcement after the girls both get a bath. My older dog knows she is going to get a full body massage and doesn't mind the water because she knows what comes afterwards.

While there are some health problems associated with pet ownership, especially allergies, overall people have better health and happier lives having a pet. I know I couldn't imagine not having a pet. Besides my two girls, I also have three cats, they just happen to be camera shy. But the snuggling and purring can make any bad day so much better. Think about what you want from a pet and what you can give a pet. Pick out the one that fits your lifestyle and start reaping the benefits of a beautiful new friendship.

The Most Dangerous Time Of The Year

ByLindsay F Mineo

Ah, Christmas. Decorations, feasts, family and friends gathering around, and lots of presents. Sometimes it seems like there can't be anything bad about the holiday season. Amidst all the busyness and joy and festivities, keep in mind your pets might need a little special attention during December.

Any Christmas-celebrating cat-owner knows cats like Christmas just as much as we do. When you bring a tree into the house, just for them, they can only assume they're on the nice list. Unfortunately, not too many people appreciate their cats climbing up the tree, knocking down ornaments, tearing up lights and causing a mess, so the poor kitties are yelled at and they don't understand why they can't climb the inside tree. While not having a Christmas tree just isn't an option for the non-Scrooges, there are other things you can do to make the experience a little less stressful for everyone. Keep the tree water covered so animals don't drink it, don't place long or sparkly ornaments right at the bottom where the cat will be encouraged to play with them (we used to put bell ornaments at the bottom so we'd hear when the cats were near the tree), and provide plenty of safe entertainment for your cat and other pets so they aren't as interested in the tree.

Poinsettias, lights, ribbon, tinsel, mistletoe, and fake snow can all be dangerous to your pet. Most decorative inside plants, especially the ones we see around December, are toxic to animals and should be kept somewhere the dog and cat (or rodent or bird) won't reach them: a trip to the animal ER won't exactly spread your holiday cheer. Lights, ribbon, tinsel, fake snow and presents can be very attractive to pets. Try to keep all your wrapping isolated from animals, especially cats who will swallow large quantities of ribbon or tinsel and require surgery to extract it, and possibly don't put presents under the tree until Christmas Eve. Keep an especially close eye on those Christmas lights. We all remember what happened to the cat in the movie Christmas Vacation...

Parties and holiday food can also be dangerous. While most family dogs and plenty of cats and other pets are perfectly happy wandering around a party and greeting guests, you should still make sure there's a quiet area they can retreat to. Maybe serve their food in there so they aren't excited while eating (a gassy dog is an instant party killer!) and take them to another room every so often to relax. Plus, even though it may be a little difficult to control with a house full of family and friends and free flowing holiday cheer and the abundance of finger foods, try not to let the animals eat human food. While most human foods aren't likely to kill your pet, some can make them very sick, or at the least make them feel like many adults do after a night of partying. Give the dog something safe to chew on, like one of his own toys or treats, and make sure other animals are kept out of the way of the party and fed beforehand so the temptation is reduced.

It's easy to get through the holiday season with happy and healthy pets, it just requires a little bit of planning and a consideration for your pet's well being throughout the month. Things will return to normal in January.

The Importance of Knowing How a Pet Is Feeling

Some people are dog lovers, while others prefer cats. However, there are also those who favor more exotic pets. Rabbits, lizards, spiders, and turtles are becoming more and more common, but most of the people who get such pets have no idea how to properly care for them and how to ensure they are healthy and happy. Yes, a rabbit can be happy or sad, just like a dog can. Many people are not aware of this, or choose not to give importance to it, but pets have feelings as well, and making sure they are happy at all times is not as easy as it sounds. Purchasing a large number of pet supplies for their cat or dog, some rabbit hutches for their two little bunnies, or a vivarium for their reptile is not enough.

Some pets make it extremely easy to see when they are happy or when they are sad. Dogs for example wag their tail, while cats purr, but turtles or rabbits are not as obvious. Pet owners, however, need to be aware of how their pet is feeling, and do something to change its mood if it is sad or scared. Getting to know their pet and being able to know how their pet will react in different situations is something all pet owners should do.

Those with exotic pets will have a much more difficult time when it comes to knowing the mood of their pet. It is not exactly easy to see when a rabbit is happy or when a turtle is sad. A reduced appetite for example may be a sign of sadness, but it could also be a sign of an illness, so it is important for pet owners to be able to properly identify the mood of their pet, and act accordingly.

In all cases doing some research helps. For example, owners of rabbits will discover that there are a lot of signs that show the mood of their pet. Rabbits are in fact one of the pets with the highest number of emotions, even though not all of them are easy to spot. A scared rabbit is easy to identify, but one that is anxious or one that is depressed may not be as easy. Taking the time to understand how a pet is expressing itself is another thing all pet owners should do, as it helps them understand it better.

It is very easy to make some pets happy. For example, dogs are generally happy when in the company of their master, and if they have a cosy basket nearby, that is even better. Some cats are happy when left alone to sleep in a warm place, while others are happy when sleeping in the lap of their owner. However, while dogs and cats are easy to please, generally, reptiles or spiders are not so easy to please. In fact, many think that pleasing a spider is impossible, as all it cares about is being left alone and receiving food at regular intervals.

While identifying the mood of their pet may not be so easy for those with exotic pets, owners can at least make sure their pet has all the pet supplies it needs. Owners getting some nice rabbit hutches for their pets may discover that their rabbits are suddenly more active and seem to be happier. However, those with reptiles should not expect any change in the behavior of their pet when getting a new pet accessories for it. It should be noted that not all pets from the same species are the same, nor do they express feelings in the same way.

Some rabbits may be much more connected to their owner, and may enjoy sleeping in his or her lap, while others may avoid contact with their owner even after several months. Just like with humans, different pets have different personalities, and it is important for pet owners to get to know the personality of their pet. With love and attention, all pets will eventually develop a bond with their owner, and this will allow both sides to better communicate and understand each other. It is just very important for people not to give up until this happens, as many seem to do.

Leah Williams writes articles for Supapet, an online shop offering a large variety of different pet supplies for nearly every kind of animal. From rabbit hutches to fish tanks, Supapet has it all, even catering for lizards with an extensive vivarium range.

Is An Underground Fence or Wireless Fence Right For You?

Is an underground fence or wireless fence system right for you? Let's begin with what the purpose of these systems is and how each system works. Both types of systems are designed to safely contain your pets on your property keeping them safe and out of harm's way. Each of these systems works in a relatively similar fashion however each system has its own unique advantages and disadvantages. Both the Underground and wireless fence systems consist of a transmitter which transmits a signal picked up by a receiver collar worn by your pet. Each system can contain as many pets as you like as long as each pet is wearing a receiver collar. The major difference in the operation of the two systems is as follows;

With the underground fence system the transmitter sends a signal out through a wire commonly referred to as the boundary wire, which you route around your property. The boundary wire can be buried 1 to 2 inches below the ground or can be run above ground with the use of Sod Staples. As your pet approaches the boundary wire the receiver collar your pet is wearing begins to pick up the signal and the collar will emit an audible sound warning your pet that it is approaching the boundary limit. If your pet continues into the boundary correction zone the receiver collar will administer a safe but effective static correction until it returns.

With a wireless fence system all you have to do is plug the transmitter in, adjust the boundary, install the receiver collar on your pet or pets and you are ready to start training. The major difference in the operation of the wireless system is that the receiver collar is always receiving the radio signal until your pet begins to near the boundary that you've set. As the receiver begins to lose the signal it will emit an audible warning and once lost it will begin to administer the same safe static correction as the underground fence system.

The advantages and disadvantages of each system are as follows;

With the underground fence system you can enclose and contain your pet or pets in the smallest of city lots up to a farm of 100 acres depending on the particular system and your needs. You also have the ability to install the boundary wire in a variety of design layouts giving you the advantage of being able to restrict your pets from areas like swimming pools, gardens and flower beds. The only real disadvantage with the underground fence systems is the installation is, somewhat permanent or semi permanent as the boundary wire is either buried below grade or stapled to the top of the ground. If you were to move the boundary wire could be removed and taken with you, however it would probably be a whole lot easier to just purchase new wire.

With the wireless fence system the biggest advantage is its portability. Portability makes this system ideal for someone who is frequently traveling with their pets and desires to keep them contained and safe when they reach their destination. Also ideal for people taking their pets camping provided the campsite has electrical hookup. With a wireless fence there is no installation, just plug it in, set the boundary, place the receiver on your pet and you're done. The big disadvantage with the wireless fence systems is their limited containment area and no design flexibility. A couple of wireless fence systems available are the Instant Fence and the Stay

Non-Antarctic Penguins

ByMasha Silko

It is a fact of common knowledge that penguins are usually associated with Antarctica continent with severe cold and windy climate and endless snow drifts. It turns out that there are other species of Penguins, the location of which is rather far from Southern Pole and in dozen kilometers from equator - Galapagos Penguin species, for instance. Nearly 1000 pairs of them share the territory of two main islands: Fernandina and Isabella. No one knows for sure how they have got there, but most likely there was once a large iceberg from Antarctica reached the Galapagos by the Humboldt Current.

But is new habitat perfect for penguins? It is clear as day that conditions of their existence are very distinctive from those of originals. The characteristic feature is temperature, which varies from 15 up to 28

Pet Odor Exterminator Candles

ByMichelle DiLauro

These paraffin and soy blend candles are a must have for anyone who has pets. These candles don't cover up pet odors, they eliminate them. It's all due to the unique enzyme formulation which attacks and removes pet odors while leaving a refreshing fragrance in its place. The proof is in the smell...or the lack of I should say.

The Pet Odor Exterminator candle works great to remove other unwanted household odors such as cigarette and cigar odors as well as food odors. I've been using these candles in my home for the past six years and I have yet to find any other product that works to remove pet odors. Other fragrant candles may smell good the first time you burn them, but once you snuff them out, the odor comes back.

Another reason I love these candles is the way they burn. Ever notice how some candles burn from the center down leaving all that other wax on the sides of the jar? And then you get that pool of melted wax that ends up extinguishing the flame. The Pet Odor Exterminator candle burns down evenly around the entire jar. No wasted wax and no washed out flame. Each 13 oz. jar candle can burn up to 70 hours. And with 12 different fragrances to choose from, you're sure to find one that you love.

Allow me to offer some guidance as to which scent might be best suited for you. If you like sweet and fresh scents, I would recommend the fruit fragrances. There are 4 combinations from which to choose: Orange-Lemon Splash, Cherry Pomegranate, Fresh Strawberries, and Mango Pomegranate. Usually, whichever fruit you would prefer to eat, would be the scent you will be most likely to enjoy.

For those of you who go for a softer and natural fragrance, I would consider one of the following scents: Bamboo Breeze, Mulberry & Spice, Lavender with Chamomile, or the Green Apple Pomegranate. All 4 of these create a more relaxing and soothing effect.

The last 4 fragrances are perfect for someone who enjoys the classics...you know who you are. Choose from: Creamy Vanilla, Cinnamon Apple, Clothesline Fresh, or Honeydew Melon. Regardless of your preference, you are sure to find one of these a must have.

If you are curious as to which fragrance is my favorite, I don't have one. But, I can tell you I love the Bamboo Breeze, the Green Apple Pomegranate, and the Mulberry & Spice.

Telephone Pet Psychics, Finding A Lost Pet

ByKevin L Nelson

A pet owner should always consider their animal's security a top priority. Despite best efforts and intentions, pets become lost and even stolen. When a pet is missing, there are several steps that should immediately be taken. A pet owner should know that one of the first steps to recovering their animal is to call a psychic service which employs telephone pet psychics who specializes in finding missing animals. Historically the greatest success in recovery are when the pet has only recently been missing.

The responsible pet owner will have had their animal microchipped and/or registered with their municipality. It is inexpensive and a pet wearing a collar with a tag makes identification fast and easy.

Steps To Take When Your Pet Is Lost

-Call your local animal shelter

-Take a drive or walk around your neighborhood. Make sure to inform everyone that you see about your lost pet. Information from postal carriers has been credited with many returned pets.

-Get family and friends who know your pet involved in the search. Put up posters everywhere you can within a mile of the disappearance. Be sure to include a picture if possible. Also include the date the pet went missing as well as the last known location of your pet. Mail boxes, power poles, and store bulletin boards are good, high visibility locations for posters.

-notify the local veterinary clinics. Often injured animals are taken to veterinary clinics. Ask to put up a poster. Other pet owners are likely to be extra observant and helpful in returning wandering animals.

-Call a telephone pet psychic

Things You Should Know Before You Phone A Pet Psychic...

-Not all pet psychics will offer a "lost pet" service.

-Animals obviously won't be able to communicate street names or businesses. The psychic will employ telepathy, so the information that the animal relays will need to be interpreted. This can result in an immediate "eureka" moment when an obvious local landmark or person is identified. Because the information that an animal provides is cryptic in nature, there is also unfortunately a possibility that clues that are received may be misinterpreted.

-It seems unthinkable to almost every pet owner, but in rare instances a pet may not want to be found. They may have relocated to a new home that suits their tastes better. It is also no secret that when some animals become sick, their instinct is to "run away" to die.

-A deceased pet's spirit may present to the psychic as though it were still alive. This typically only happens when the animal has passed away suddenly or violently such as being mauled by another animal or hit by a car. The spirit may not recognize that it is no longer bound to this world. If it is later found that the animal that communicated as alive has passed away, phone a pet psychic and ask for assistance in helping the spirit of your pet to "cross over".

-Prepare yourself for a telephone pet psychic reading, you will be most useful to the pet psychic if you are not frazzled. Take a few minutes to calm yourself. Use whatever method works best for you. If you haven't got a method, I recommend a short self-hypnosis session.

Controlling Pet Allergies - 5 Relatively Easy Ways To Minimize Your Symptoms

ByDebbie Davis

As a pet lover, you know that pets help make a house a home. But warm-blooded pets all shed dander as a natural part of their growth and development. Unfortunately, if you are at all sensitive, it can trigger miserable allergy symptoms. Here are 5 things you can do to lessen the effect that pet allergies have on you.

Create A Pet-Free Zone---We both know this is easier said than done, but it can really mean the difference between keeping your pet and enjoying it, or being miserable all the time and possibly having to find a new home for it.

The clean space will have less pet-related stuff on surfaces and in the air. Being able to relax here will give your body some down time that it needs to rejuvenate. It will also let you relax emotionally because you know that you are less likely to have a flare-up because the air has fewer triggers.

Clean Frequently---With a warm-blooded pet you are never going to get rid of all of the hair, dander, and fur. But with regular and thorough cleaning to can greatly reduce the number of allergens which will give you relief from symptoms.

Bathe Your Pet---In some cases this works well, but you will have to decide whether this is a feasible option based on your individual pet. Consulting with a veterinarian before you begin bathing is crucial.

Bathing your pet can sometimes lessen the amount of dander it shed. And since it is the protein in the dander that is such a potent allergy trigger, anything you can do to get rid of it is worth a try.

The right kind of cleanser and the frequency are crucial to your pet's health. Using the wrong kind of product can cause health problems for your pet, and can make the dander situation worse.

Some pets will object to this regimen more than others. So you will have to weigh the possible benefits against your pet's possible disdain for baths.

Wash Bedding Regularly---Dander is a food source for dust mites. So it is crucial that you keep your bed linens laundered as well as your pet's special blanket, rug, and/or bedding.

These should be washed at temperatures that exceed 160 degrees Fahrenheit in order to kill mites. Washing the linens gives double benefits (in addition to clean sheets!). Reducing the dander reduces the food source for mites, and since dust mites are also an allergen you are successfully eliminating two of the most potent indoors allergens known.

Use A HEPA Air Cleaner---Using an air purifier with a HEPA (an abbreviation for high efficiency particle arresting) filter is an effective, low maintenance, and non-invasive way to eliminate airborne particulates.

As its name suggests, it is highly efficient at removing airborne particles. In order to be designated as a HEPA it must be able to trap 99,997 out of every 10,000 airborne particulates that are.3 microns or greater.

The really good thing about this type of filtration is that not only will it remove pet-related pollutants such as dander, and hair; but it will also remove more normal indoor irritants such as dust, dust mites, mold and mildew spores, seasonal pollens as well as airborne bacteria and viruses.

Taking these 5 steps will minimize the allergens in your air, improve your quality of life, and give you more quality time to enjoy your pet.. And being able to reduce your symptoms allows you to enjoy your pet more. And that's a win win situation for all!
